Baltimore Orioles Sign the First Player From China MLB Development Academy, Xu Gui Yuan

Today is a great day in Chinese Baseball, but for others it's just a Monday...

Baltimore Orioles announced the signing of the first Chinese player from the China MLB development academy. Xu Gui Yuan, nickname "Itchy" (internet casual racists must be having fun with this) is a 19 year old kid from Shenzhen, China. He's been in the academy since 2010 and was named two-time China National Youth MVP and two-time MLB Taiwan Elite Camp All-star. The Orioles signed him for $10,000 which is nothing compared to those folks down in Latin America. Xu will report to the Gulf Coast League team in Sarasota. I wish nothing but luck to this kid. He will make it to the show in 3-4 years! Bet on it!

Here are other links to the signing: (No Chinese articles yet)

I'm a little late, but here are the results from Universiade Gwangju 2015 baseball tournament results from a week ago. One surprsiing result was China defeating Mexico 5-4. They usually carry a strong team, but I guess China decided to be good in that game!

Thanks for reading the short update. Hopefully, more great news come! Have a great night Chinese baseball fans!
