China Baseball League to Restart This October! Baseball in Olympics! Asian Games Day 3 Results!

It was announced today that the China Baseball League will return this year October 18! The league was initially suppose to start in May and then it got postponed the second time in July. I guess the third time's a charm.

(Official announcement from their Weibo Account)

There hasn't been any update about the schedule or how many games will be played, but only four teams will play this season. Perhaps it's going to go with a winter league format. I'm also not sure about the Asia Series this year, it seems to be canceled because of the broadcasting dispute that happened in Taiwan. They don't want to host anymore because of the financial problem the CPBL is this year. I need to look it up and validate. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the start of CBL. It's been three long years since they played a professional game in China. Hang on tight, because Chinese baseball is finally coming! (Hopefully...)

There's also news about the possibility of baseball and softball coming back to the Olympics in 2020. Something about the adoption of a flexible approach. I'm not going to get into detail about it, but you can read it here from USATODAY

Lastly, here are the results for the 3rd day of baseball of the Asian Games.

Game 7: Thailand 13, Hong Kong 7 Boxscore

Hong Kong put up a good fight against Thailand today. They were leading after the third inning, but things got out of hand after. Lead off hitter DARU Joseph Matthew went 2-3 with 3 RBIs and KONGSABAI Teerasak went 3-4 with 3 RBIs. It doesn't look like Hong Kong will walk away with any victory this year. Thailand has finished the tournament with 1 win and 2 losses. Hoping for better things to come in Thailand baseball!

Game 8: Korea 10, Chinese Taipei 0 - 8 Innings Boxscore

Well I have to admit that I was dead wrong about Taiwan. They got slaughtered and embarrassed by Korea. Chicago Cubs Prospect WANG Yao Lin didn't even survive the first inning and gave up 5 runs in 2/3 of an inning pitched. The Korean bash brothers went a total of 4-9 with 4 runs and 4 RBIs. Considering all that, Taiwan still has a chance against Korea if they reach the finals. Korea will finish the preliminary round against Hong Kong tomorrow and fireworks(not literally) will be displayed. Speaking of fireworks....

Game 9: Pakistan 25, Mongolia 0 - 5 Innings Boxscore

Same story, different day. Mongolia got no hit again and didn't survive for the full game. Pakistan first basemen KHAN Khurram Raza went 4-4 with 4 RBIs and center fielder ZAWAR Muhammad Sumair went 2-2 with 5 runs. The starting pitcher SARDAR Adil also pitched the complete game no hitter with 8 strikeouts. It's also sad to say that Mongolia won't be walking (or limping) away with a victory this year or even a base hit! Pakistan will be facing China tomorrow for the runner up semi finals qualifying spot.

Anyway, there you have it. CBL is back and China vs. Pakistan tomorrow. 加油 and 再見!
