Asian Games Final Day Results - Korean Beats Taiwan for the Gold, Japan Wins Bronze

Game 15: Japan 10, China 0 - 7 Innings Boxscore

After putting up a good fight with Korea yesterday, China didn't have anything left in the tank as they go home without the bronze medal. YANG Haifan who was probably the best pitcher for China in the series, started off with 3 scoreless innings against the Japanese, but ran out of steam in the 4th inning. Like usual, the bullpen couldn't limit the damage and blew the game wipe open. The hitters lacked recognition of good breaking balls, and the pitchers located their pitches poorly.

Game 16: Korea 6, Chinese Taipei 3 Boxscore

Anyone remember the upsetting loss for Taiwan against Japan in WBC 13? It happened again as the bullpen blew the lead for Taiwan, preventing them from glory against Korea. They were leading 3-2 until Korea scored 4 runs in the 8th inning to seal the deal. It would be more upsetting if Korea didn't win, but it was a great intense game for the fans. Now that Korea has won the gold, the whole team doesn't have to serve mandatory military service! Hooray!

Well, that's it! It was a fun week covering the 2014 Asian Games baseball tournament. Here's the final ranking of the tournament:
