Asian Games Day 1 Results

Game 1: Chinese Taipei 12, Hong Kong 0 - 7 Innings Boxscore

No surprise here. The Taiwanese did not hold back, as they knocked Hong Kong around with 12 runs. Chicago Cubs prospect Pin-Chieh Chen went 2-3 with 2 runs scored and an RBI. Pittsburgh Pirates prospect Jinde Jhang also went 1-4 with an RBI. Hong Kong never had a chance, they need pitching talent if they ever want to climb in the ranks.

Game 2: Japan 11, China 0 - 7 Innings Boxscore

What a rough night for Team China. LHP Li Xin couldn't handle the Japanese as they scored 6 runs off of him in 1.2 innings pitched. RHP Yang Haifan came in and held the Japanese to one run in 2.1 innings pitched allowing just 3 hits and a strikeout. Great effort by the 20 year old. But the offense couldn't get anything going and managed just 5 hits against four different pitchers. The game was called after the 7th due to no-mercy rule.

The Chinese must win the next two games to reach the semi finals. They shouldn't have a problem against Mongolian tomorrow, but Pakistan will be an interesting team.

Game 3: Korea 15, Thailand 0 - 5 Innings Boxscore

Meanwhile, the Koreans showing what best Korea is all about. They pummeled Thailand in the first by scoring 8 runs and knocked them out after 5 innings. Homerun sensation Byung Ho Park went 2-4 and Jyun Ho Kang went 1-3 with 2 RBIs. Korean ace Kwang Hyun Kim pitched 2 innings of shutout ball with 4 strikeout. He is slated to pitch the championship game if(when) the Koreans reach the championship final.

Well...it was an underwhelming first day. Not only did all the underdogs lose, but they literally got destroyed by their opponents. China will get it's redemption and get to the semi finals to upset whoever they face!! Anyway, more updates to come!
